A rare chance to be able to play on a Tuesday evening. During the year I have a full teaching schedule Monday through Thursday evenings so those weekday bar and lounge gigs are out of reach for me. None of them pay well enough to take a night off of teaching. But as this was summer we were able to play for the fine folks at West Park Manor.
It’s a care home in the neighborhood they have a very strong connection to music. They have their own PA if you need it but they have mic stands, a piano and music stands. The only thing we use is the piano bench for me to sit down on because it’s comfortable and usually bring a second music stand because the ones they have there a little bit worn out you can’t get them down low enough. That’s about it. It’s an easy gig it’s an hour and it’s real nice to play for people who listen and then and then applaud in between each tune. Then the ones that are able to come up and talk to you about how much they enjoyed it very fulfilling and I do believe we’re doing good work.
