Voice and Guitar Wedding Music

Wedding Music  By Winnipeg Jazz Group, The Burton‘s

In today’s modern wedding you can have it all.

Everything from a cathedral wedding with a hotel reception followed by a ballroom social to a simple non-traditional single location ceremony, reception, dinner and dance to a civil ceremony with an intimate dinner to follow.

No matter what your unique way of celebrating your love is, nothing makes it better than live music played by real professionals!

We have done all sorts of these types of wedding events and we love them. We can learn special songs just for your ceremony or you can choose from our existing repertoire.

Your typical wedding goes like this:

  • The musician(s) are set up and ready play to the left of where the bride, groom and party will be for the ceremony.
  • The music is played starting around 20 minutes before the scheduled start of the wedding ceremony. Sometimes they start earlier if guests arrive sooner and sometimes later if no one comes.
  • On cue the music stops, the officiant makes a short announcement and (again on cue) the musician(s) play the processional(s)
  • At the 2/3rds point is usually the signing and usually music is played here.
  • The Bride and Groom are now introduced as Husband and Wife. After the applause the recessional is played.

Ceremony Music

So, you are thinking of having professional musicians play at your wedding. Great and fairly unique idea.

With live music your wedding can go something like this:

The musician(s) are set up and ready play to the left of where the bride, groom and wedding party will be for the ceremony. They play calming music starting 20-30 minutes before the scheduled start of the wedding. They play while family and friends find their seats. The music welcomes them to your special day. The music helps the early arrivals feel less awkward. The music will add beauty and class to your beautiful day.

On cue the music stops, the officiant makes a short announcement and (again on cue) the musician(s) play the processional(s)

The processional can be one long one where Just the bride and attendants make the walk. Sometimes it include parents and sometimes it is everyone.
On occasion, we get requested to to play multiple professionals. One for the parents one for the ring bearers one for the grooms, etc. This can be a good idea if there is a long walk for each group and they walk slowly. Usually the walk is short and excited people tend to walk fast. In these cases we find that that multiple songs are a bad idea. We’ve barely started song one when we need to change music and there can be awkward silences. Better to have one song played to completion

At the 2/3rds point is usually the signing and usually music is played here.

The Bride and Groom are now introduced as Husband and Wife. After the applause the recessional is played.

With us you can have the music of your choosing. Any song can be made into a wedding song. Songs with lyrics can be made instrumental. Songs with lyrics can be sung for your wedding.

You can make requests of what songs you want for your processional(s) signing, mid-ceremony music and recessional.

If needed we can also then play your cocktail hour and/or dinner

Cocktail Music

Imagine your guests arriving early to your dinner or are awkwardly standing around not knowing whether they are in the correct place. Now imagine them put at ease and greeted with calming light jazz played by professional musicians!

One of our many services is to play music at cocktail parties as a part of larger events like weddings and conferences.

While we are available to play morning, noon and night, we find ourselves mainly doing music for  receptions and dinner. We provide relaxing background music to make the transition from one mode to relaxing social mode. Typically we start playing before the first guests arrive so they feel welcome and know they are in the right place.

We deal with all our clients with professionalism, reliability, punctuality and timely responses to all questions. With this Client focused approach we can then provide the perfect music ensemble to match your needs.

We offer a wide selection of ensembles to offer further options for making sure the music at your event is just right.

Because of this we can provide a musical setting that best reflects your needs from event size to budget. From background music to something that engages you and your guests more.

While our groups are jazz based they also can do a wide variety of popular music from many decades to keep everyone happy.

We know the venues and you can book your event with us even if you are not in Winnipeg.

Dinner Jazz

We do music for dinner for many Weddings and Corporate events each year.

The bulk of them fit in to 2 categories; background music for Cocktail Receptions and Dinner Jazz. Whether you need some music played for your formal dinner, a meal as part of a conference or convention or your office Christmas Party, we are the place to provide the best in professional musicians. These are highly trained and qualified individuals who know how to play their instruments, how to dress for the occasion and how to act in a professional manner. We do not use students or part-time individuals.

We arrive early, set up discretely and are ready to play on time. When the musicians are done, we tear down and exit the just as professionally. We can time our playing times to match your agenda, taking breaks during announcements, and played canned music if and when needed.

Not having a big event?

We can provide music for your smaller event, your home party, your garden party, your wedding dinner, your retirement event, your milestone anniversary, etc.
